Global Eco Rescue (GER) was founded to drive the reversal of gross global environmental degradation by integrating capital markets with carbon credits generated from "avoided deforestation" projects. GER's business model is based on GER acting as a "Project Developer", providing the forest owner with conservation services and forest protection and enhancement programs, coordination of annual measurements & auditing of carbon emission reductions, and structuring & marketing carbon credits resulting from forest protection and enhancement activities.

GER is seeking an experienced high-performance person with technical skills in GIS, focusing mainly on GIS outputs and liaison with local communities and government at the provincial level.

Position Title: Technical Officer
Recruitment: Indonesian National
Location/Duty Station: Banda Aceh, with regular travel to GER’s head office in Jakarta and other project sites in Kalimantan (Time spent: approximately 60% Banda Aceh, 30% Jakarta, 10% Kalimantan)
Duration of Assignment: Fulltime; Initial 3-month trial period with possibility for long term extension

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Technical Officer is responsible to the General Manager for providing assistance relating to collecting, processing, maintaining and managing spatial data and GIS analysis required by GER. The officer will also be expected to maintain liaison with GER’s partners on technical matters.

MAIN DUTIES:
I. Collecting, processing, maintaining and managing spatial data and GIS analysis:
• Collate relevant spatial data and information on available sources of information
• Maintain, update and manage spatial data and information
• Maintain and further develop GIS (hardware, software and databases) to ensure its effectiveness as a tool for GER project planning and implementation
• Process and analyze spatial data and information
• Collaborate with other staff on project design and implementation to include an effective spatial analysis and mapping component, as necessary
• Produce high-quality and timely maps or spatial data as requested by GER

II. Liaison with GER's Partners
• Act as a point person for coordination and liaison with other technical agencies (both government and non-government) working in the Leuser Ecosystem and GER project sites in Kalimantan.
• Preparation of communication materials (memos, briefing papers) related to GER’s technical activities

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
1. University degree (S1) in Information Technology, GIS/Mapping, Forestry or related field
2. Practical experience in using ArcGIS and/or other GIS software such as ESRI’s Software Product, etc;
3. Good understanding of database management; familiarity with a range of computer office software
4. Experience of data collection, entry and maintenance;
5. Experience in working with a multicultural team under limited supervision
6. Good personal skills
7. Good written and spoken English is desirable

Payment

 

VSO will pay a fixed amount for satisfactory
delivery of the outputs listed above. This amount will include the consultant’s
professional fees and other costs (excluding travel to the programme areas that

completion of the consultancy within this fixed amount.

 

The
consultant will be paid a fee paid in two equal instalments, one half way
through the consultancy, and the other upon satisfactory completion of the work

[lowongan-beasiswa] MONITORING COORDINATOR and Officer - Based in Sorong

 

The
Monitoring Coordinator coordinates the scientific and operational aspects of
TNC’s Monitoring Program. S/he supports annual work planning and budgeting as
well as submission of periodic financial reports, and technical/scientific
reports. While implementing the work plan, s/he monitors progress and proposes
adaptations of the work plan to supervisors if required.

 

S/he
supervises a field team of monitoring, logistics, and surveillance technicians.
S/He closely cooperates with governmental agencies, notably the government and
local law enforcement agencies in identifying and enabling enforcement of laws
on illegal resource use within protected areas when the related regulations and
policies for the areas are in effect.

 

The Monitoring Coordinator
will be involved in a wide range of data collection including marine resources
use, reef health monitoring, cetaceans, dugong, manta rays and the related monitoring,
surveillance, and any other work directly falls under Monitoring Team’s
responsibilities). Must have some coral and/or fish identification skills and
experience.

The
Coordinator compiles descriptive statistics on the data that are being collected,
and assists with data analysis and scientific reporting and publication. 
S/He is responsible for disseminating lessons learned to staff and partners,
and coordinates  with the Outreach Coordinator to provide science
technical support and advice to the community-based work as required. Relating
to surveillance, the Coordinator will be involved in the implementation of the
specific monitoring and surveillance activity such as week speedboat patrol
when the related laws have been implemented. He/she will provide supports to in
the development and implementation of the resource use regulations and
policies’ enforcement as well as in the design and implementation of zoning
systems. The Coordinator is responsible for supervising the tasks and
responsibilities of monitoring officers..

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s
degree (S-1) in marine biology or fisheries and some knowledge on marine
organisms and ecosystems. Good verbal and written skills in English and Bahasa
Indonesia. At least 7 years experience in implementing monitoring programs.
Affinity with the ocean, good swimming. Certified for diving. Basic
computer personal skills (spreadsheet program, word processor), and GIS skills
required, including database knowledge.

 

 

MONITORING OFFICER Based
in Sorong

The role of the Monitoring
Officer is to assist the Monitoring Coordinator and Project Leader with:

1.     
The
implementation of a biological monitoring program. The responsibilities will
include data collection in the field, data management and coordination of
logistics for the various types of field work.

2.

into excel and relevant databases, and undertake basic level analysis of data
for presentations and reports.

Involved in a

willing to learn coral and fish identification skills with a high level of
accuracy.

closely with members of partners, relevant stakeholders and institutions that
are assigned to the biological monitoring program

Qualifications: Bachelor’s
degree (S-1) in marine biology or fisheries and some knowledge on marine
organisms and ecosystems, At least 2 – 3 years experience in implementing
monitoring programs. Affinity with the ocean, good swimming. Must
be a certified diver. Basic computer personal skills (spreadsheet program, word
processor), and GIS, including database knowledge.

VACANT POSITION: THE PART TIME INDONESIAN CONSULTANT FOR LABORATORY LOGISTICS AT THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH
PROJECT NAME: USAID|DELIVER
 
            1. Requirements:
a)Have laboratory logistics or general logistics experience of at least 5 years.
b)Have in depth experience with senior officials  and programs at the Ministry of Health of at least 15 years.
c)Have excellent spoken and written English with examples of written English reports and other documents.
d)Have in depth experience with USAID or other donor programs of at least 15 years
 
2. Scope Of Work
USAID|Deliver has been asked by USAID and CDC/USA to assist the MOH in the area of AI Laboratory logistics management.  The MOH via the Department of Biomedicine and Pharmacy [BMF], Director General of Health Research and Development, has requested CDC/USA and JSI to assist them to strengthen the Flu Testing Lab Network logistics systems.  A team made up of BMF, CDC/USA, USAID/Mission and USAID\Deliver staff developed a proposal in November and December that has been agreed to by USAID Washington.  It is now necessary to carry out a comprehensive logistics system assessment of 13 of the members of the Flu Testing Lab Network, as outlined in the proposal, and then strengthen the current lab logistics systems based on the results of the assessment. . The assessment and system strengthening process is expected to be a nine to 12 months in partnership with the MOH and CDC.  The steps of the process are to use the assessment results to prepare a
strengthened AI lab logistics management system, prepare necessary software for this system, training MOH staff to use the system and mentor the lab staff in 6 to 13 labs to use this system.
 
The assessment process is expected to take three months, from January 2010 to March 2010.  The system development and training process is expected to take an additional 3 months, from April to June 2010.  CDC/USA, USAID, and USAID|Deliver will be working with the MOH team to carry out this assessment and development process .  In order to assist this process it is necessary to enlist a local technical consultant, who knows the systems and structure at the MOH, to facilitate this process.  This SOW  is for the consultant to carry out this assistance work.
 
            I. Objectives of this short term consultancy:
             ASSESMENT:
            a. Review the concepts and documents already available about this project.
            b. Attend meetings with MOH team members and CDC/USA and JSI staff to plan for the AI lab system assessment in 13                         labs.
            c. Attend meetings with MOH team members and CDC/USA and JSI staff to develop the final assessment tools and schedule                    with detailed activities and cost estimations.
            d. Provide technical assistance to the MOH, CDC and JSI\Deliver team members as needed.        
            e. Assist in the analysis of the results of the lab assessment.
            f. Assist the MOH team members to prepare any written materials and budgets that will be necessary in follow up of the lab                         assessment.
            g. Prepare a short summary report of the work completed and recommended next steps.
 
            LOGISTICSSYSTEM STRENGTHENING:
h.   Review the results of the lab assessment and assist/facilitate the MOH team work to agree on system strengthening needs and process.
i.     Attend meeting with MOH team members and CDC and JSI staff to plan for the lab logistics system strengthening development activity.
j.     Provide technical assistance to the MOH, CDC, and JSI/Deliver team members as needed.
k.   Assist in monitoring the steps and results of the systems strengthening process.
l.     Prepare a short summary report of the work completed and recommended next steps. 
 
II Methodology
The consultant will be briefed on the background of this proposed activity and material already available and discussed. The consultant will attend meetings with project partners to discuss the needs and plans for this activity.  As needed, the consultant will assist the MOH team to prepare material and budget items. The consultant will be part of the development team made up of the MOH team, CDC/USA, USAID, and USAID|Deliver that prepares and finalizes the project materials.
 
After the completion of the assessment results and system design, feedback will be obtained from the JSI DC office and the consultant may be involved in revising the material with the MOH team
 
            III. Deliverables & Schedule :
 
1. Attendance at planned meetings and short meeting notes of results.
2. Detailed draft of Assessment Report as developed by MOH team and CDC/USA, USAID, and USAID|Deliver.
3. Summary report of  assessment and development process with next step recommendations.
4. Estimated submit date for final result is: June 15, 2010
IV. Period of Performance: Jan 15 , 2010 – June 15, 2010       
               
            V. Authorized Number of Work Days: 60 (sixty) days
              (Total days include preparation, travel, on-site consultation, and report writing.
              Any extension in the number of work days or work period must have the explicit prior written approval of JSI.)
 
            VI. Work Week :  (6 day work weeks require prior written approval of USAID): N/A

Post Title: A CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION GRANT PROPOSAL WRITER

Responsibilities:
To lead the design and writing of 2010-2014 proposals for Climate Change Adaptation Programming in the fields of agriculture, land and water resource management and disaster preparedness, in adequacy with ACF Indonesia Country Strategy, in coordination with international and local partners identified for the action, and in line with Governmental priorities.
* Undertake all necessary preparatory work (literature review, key informants’ discussions, briefings by Country team, etc) 
*  Lead and facilitate the contributions of ACF Country and HQ team members;
* Lead and facilitate the contributions of all identified partners for the actions;
* Gather all necessary primary data, undertaking as needed assessment works (elaborating the methodology, leading field teams  and ensuring data analysis);
* Design and write required proposals (narrative, logical framework, budget) with the support of national teams, HQ and Management, in line with ACF strategic orientations and respecting donors’ requirements
 
Desired Qualifications :
 
* Master’s Degree  in food security & livelihoods (FSL) and/or in natural resources management (NRM) for developing countries;
* Specific academic background or experience in the field of CCA program development in the areas of land & water resource management and/or agriculture, and familiarity with environment and disaster preparedness stakes;
* Experience in SEA is a MUST and in Indonesia is preferred.
* Excellent Writing skills
* Proven track records of developing articulate and successful donor proposals in similar fields;
* Knowledge of EuropAid & USAID guidelines and previous experience in developing proposals for these donors;
* Strong technical experience in contexts of chronic vulnerabilities, gained through directly managing/ supervising programs’ design, implementation and M&E in the fields of FSL and/or natural resources management;
* Proven analytical and strategic development capacity;
* Social and cross-cultural sensitivity with a capacity to engage in comprehensive capacity-building
* An autonomous, dynamic and tenacious individual would be preferred;
* Fluency in English (oral and written) is a must; Bahasa Indonesia is an asset
