The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international non-governmental organization with a mission is to accompany, serve, and advocate the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced people. JRS undertakes services at national and regional levels with the support of an international office in Rome. Founded in November 1980 as a work of the Society of Jesus, JRS programs are found in over 50 countries, providing assistance to refugees in refugee camps, to people displaced within their own country, and to asylum-seekers in cities and held in detention. The main areas of work in Indonesia are in the fields of Pastoral, Education, Advocacy and Social Services to asylum seekers and refugees in urban areas and immigration detention centers and IDPs.

JRS is also very much concerned with Advocacy and Human Rights work. This involves ensuring that refugees are afforded their full rights while in exile and during repatriation as guaranteed by the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees, and working to strengthen the protection afforded to Internally Displaced People (IDPs). It extends to lobbying for and promoting greater international protection and human rights legislation, either through participation in international campaigns and coalitions or through membership of international for a, such as the UN Economic and Social Committee (ECOSOC).

[lowongan-beasiswa] [INFO] Nanyang Presidentâ€™s Graduate Scholarship

The Nanyang President�s Graduate Scholarship (NPGS) is a competitive and prestigious scholarship scheme designed to encourage outstanding graduates or final-year students to take their first step towards a leading research career by studying for a doctoral degree program (Phd) at NTU, one of Asia�s leading research universities. Funding will be provided for up to 4 years for NPGS awardees.

Up to 30 NPGS awards will be made available in each Academic Year. Successful candidates will be known as Nanyang President�s Graduate Scholars.

Minimum Qualification

To qualify for a NPGS award, you must have a First Class Honours degree or equivalent at Bachelor�s level and applicants should also demonstrate excellent research abilities. The PhD research will be in any topic agreed between you and your chosen NTU supervisor within the research activities of NTU. At the time of application, if you have not yet completed your undergraduate degree programme, you will need to furnish documentation from your university that you are on track to get a First Class Honours degree or equivalent. Failure to do so will disqualify you from the NPGS award, in which case you may be considered for other NTU PhD research scholarships, subject to meeting the selection criteria. How to Apply ?

The application for Academic Year 2012-13 (Aug 12 and Jan 13) intake is now open from 1 Oct 11 to 15 Nov 11. Please click here to apply. Successful candidates will be notified by post or email in Feb/Mar 2012.

Geographic Information is a rapidly growing economical sector: it is suggested, that 80 % of all decisions in Economy and Politics have a spatial relation. The goal of the Masters program in Geospatial Technologies is to form specialists able to carry out a wide variety of geospatial projects in industry and academics.

The Master of Science in Geospatial Technologies qualifies for a professional career in the following domains:

Private sector: GI applications and consulting in the domains of regional planning, landscape planning, financial services industry, energy providing industry, transportation, agriculture and forestry, and retailing/marketing;
Research: Applied sciences at universities and other research institutions;
Public sector: GI applications and consulting in local and regional administrations, especially in cadastre and different types of planning (e.g., regional, traffic, ecology).
The Master�s program targets holders of a Bachelor�s degree with a qualification in application areas of Geographic Information (GI), e.g., environmental planning, regional planning, geography, logistics, transportation, marketing, energy provision, computer science.

The international Masters program (Master of Science, M.Sc.) in Geospatial Technologies is a cooperation of:

Erasmus Mundus scholarships: Call for applications

The new call for applications 2012 for Erasmus mundus scholarships in the Master�s program in Geospatial Technologies is open now. Start of the next edition of the Masters program will be September 1, 2012. We will be able to provide the following scholarships (numbers to be confirmed):

~5 financial contributions to EU students (in this context nationals or residents (> 1 year) from EU Member States and EEA-EFTA countries).
~1 full scholarship each to students from the three �Windows� (a. Western Balkans and Turkey, b. Tunesia and Egypt, c. �Eastern Neighbourhood Countries� (i.e. Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine).
~7 full scholarships to third country students (other nationals or residents than above).
~2 scholarships for third country scholars (visiting researchers), starting ~ September 1, 2012, either in Lisbon, Portugal, or Castell�n, Spain.

Unique Fellowship for Top Female Scientists

Maximum employment: 38 hours (1 FTE)

Job description

The Delft Technology Fellowship offers high-profile, tenure-track positions to top female scientists in research fields in which Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) is active. As a fellow you will be offered the unique chance to establish your own research programme of international repute, including generous start-up funding. The five-year fellowships are awarded at the Assistant, Associate or full Professor level.

Delft University of Technology works at providing new ground-breaking insights and solutions to urgent societal problems around the world. Thanks to its top scientists and unique, large-scale technological research facilities, this university offers world-level multidisciplinary research and education.

Requirements

You are a highly talented and motivated pioneer holding a PhD in a relevant discipline, with the ambition necessary to become a full Professor. You have a proven drive for scientific excellence demonstrated, for example, by publications in first-rate, international scientific journals, the ability to compete for external research funding and an extensive international network. You have a few years of post-doctoral working experience in research groups in industry or academia, preferably including experience outside of the Netherlands.

Depending on your level of experience you either are, or have the clear potential to develop into, an academic leader who guides and inspires her group. You have excellent communication and social skills, a coaching leadership style and experience in supervising research projects. You are self-critical and able to align your personal ambition with being an inspiring member of a team of first-rate colleagues.

You have educational experience and an affinity for teaching, as you are expected to participate in and contribute to the development of the department�s teaching programme. Please also have a look at the performance criteria for academic staff at TU Delft.

The fellowship programme is open to scientists currently not employed by TU Delft.

Conditions of employment

You will have the opportunity to take part in the exciting tenure-track development programme. An informal mentoring scheme will be in place to help you get to know the university and the Dutch (research) environment. You will also be able to participate in a university-wide introduction programme.

Depending on the level of your experience, as well as your current academic position, you will be offered a position at the assistant, associate or full professor level. Following a positive evaluation at the end of (a maximum of) 5 years, you will be awarded tenure. From that moment on, you will follow the regular career path for scientists at Delft University of Technology.

The salary of the Assistant Professor is based on scale 11 or 12 (maximum � 4970 gross per month) with a fellowship starting grant of � 100.000. The salary of the Associate Professor is based on scale 13 or 14 (maximum � 5920 gross per month) with a fellowship starting grant of � 200.000. The salary for a full professor is � 7.142 (based on scale H2) up to � 8.622 (based on scale H1) with a fellowship starting grant of � 300.000.

TU Delft offers an attractive benefits package, including a flexible work week, free high-speed Internet access from home, and the option of assembling a customized compensation and benefits package (the �IKA�). Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.

TU Delft is setting up career advisory services for your partner (if applicable) to help him/her find a suitable position within the Netherlands. Specific standards are set for the English competency of the teaching staff. If necessary, we will offer you training to improve your proficiency in English.

Key Studentship Information

Project Title: Lowering the operating temperature of catalysts for diesel particulat destruction

Project Description: Current technologies for controlling the emission of particulate from diesel vehicles rely on the reaction of NOx with the carbon content of the particles. However, the exhaust produced by passenger cars is often not hot enough, or does not contain enough NOx, to remove all the particulate. The aim of this project will be to improve the performance of known catalysts for the alternative (but slower) C+O2 reaction, allowing it to take place at typical car-exhaust temperatures. The major challenge will be to understand the mechanism by which gas-phase O2 is activated by the catalyst and transferred to the particulate, before the practical problem of ensuring effective contact between the catalyst and the immobilised particulate can be addressed.

Funding

This is a Cardiff University President's Research Scholarship. The award includes full UK/EU tuition fees plus a doctoral stipend matching UK Research Council National Minimum (£13,590 p.a. for 2010/11, updated each year).

[lowongan-beasiswa] [INFO] PhD Fellowship Competition at BRIGSSS Germany

The Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS) invites applications to its Ph.D. program. The program will commence on September 1st, 2012.

Successful applicants for the Ph.D. and Post-doc fellowships will pursue a topic in one of BIGSSS� five Thematic Fields.

All fellows are expected to choose Bremen as their place of residence.

Financial Support:

BIGSSS offers 15 Ph.D. stipends of 1250 Euros/month for 36 months, contingent on successful completion of each year. To support its Ph.D. fellows in achieving early scientific independence, it also provides funds for conducting, presenting and publishing research. There is no separate funding application, because all admitted applicants receive a stipend.

Admission Requirements:

An excellent MA degree (or national equivalents like the German �Diplom� or �Magister�) in a discipline pertinent to at least one of BIGSSS� five Thematic fields (see above), i.e. inPolitical Science (including related degree programs in European Studies or International Relations), Sociology, Psychology, Law, Economics or Mass Communication. The degree must be completed by the end of July of the year of application, which means you may apply before having finished your MA degree.
English proficiency as described in the application materials section below.
Additionally BIGSSS offers 2 Preparatory Fellowships to particularly talented BA Graduates. Please refer to Preparatory Fellowships to find out more about the program.

The Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP) are designed to promote capacity building within organisations in 61 countries by providing training and education to mid-career staff. The NFP is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the budget for development cooperation.

The overall aim of the NFP is to help alleviate qualitative and quantitative shortages of skilled manpower within a wide range of governmental, private and non-governmental organisations. This is done by offering fellowships to mid-career professionals to improve the capacity of their employing organisations.

NFP sub-programmes
The NFP offers you three sub-programmes to choose from:
Master�s degree programmes, application deadline:
Short courses
PhD studies
To be eligible for an NFP fellowship you must:
be a mid-career professional with at least three years' relevant work experience;
be a national of, and working and living in one of the countries on the NFP country list valid at the time of application;
be nominated by your employer, who pledges to continue paying your salary and guarantees that you will be able to return to the same or an equivalent position at the end of your fellowship period;
have been unconditionally admitted by a Dutch institution to one of the Master�s degree programmes or Short courses on the 2012-2013 course list, or have agreed upon a PhD research proposal with the Dutch institution. This means that you must have met all the academic requirements set by the Dutch institution;
not already have received an NFP fellowship for a master�s degree programme or a PhD fellowship.
not already have received two NFP fellowships for a short course and you must not have already received a fellowship in the year preceding your application.
not be employed by:
- a multinational corporation (e.g. Shell, Unilever, Microsoft);
- a large national and/or commercial organisation;
- a bilateral donor organisation (e.g. USAID, DFID, Danida, Sida, Dutch ministry of Foreign affairs, FinAid, AusAid, ADC, SwissAid);
- a multilateral donor organisation, (e.g. a UN organisation, the World Bank, the IMF, Asian Development Bank, African Development Bank, IADB);
- an international NGO (e.g. Oxfam, Plan, Care).
have completed and submitted an NFP PhD study, master�s degree programme or short course application, including all the required documentation, before the applicable fellowship application deadline;
be employed in an area to which the study will make a relevant contribution;
have a clear-cut, functional relationship with a relevant organisation and be in a position to introduce the newly acquired skills and knowledge into that organisation;
be full-time available for the entire period of the programme or course and be physically and mentally able to take part in the entire programme;
endorse the objective and the aim of the NFP and use your new knowledge and skills to support your employing organisation and your country. Nuffic urges you to return to your home country upon finishing the course or programme to meet the NFP aim in the most effective way.

Gates Cambridge Scholarship are only available for full-time postgraduate degrees offered at the University of Cambridge. Who is eligible

Candidates for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship:

may be citizens of any country outside the United Kingdom
may apply to pursue one of the following full-time residential courses of study:
PhD (three year research-only degree)
One year postgraduate course (e.g. MPhil, LLM, MASt, Diploma, MBA etc.)
MSc or MLitt (two year research-only degree)
may apply to study any subject available at the University of Cambridge
must be admitted to one of the degrees above at Cambridge through the University�s normal admission procedures � the Trust does not admit students
must be applying for a new course of study or research if they are already a student at Cambridge � e.g. those who have already started their PhD are not eligible to be considered for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship
who are � or have been � in receipt of a Gates Cambridge Scholarship may apply for a second scholarship; such candidates must apply by the second, international deadline and go through the same process of departmental ranking, shortlisting and interviewing as all other candidates
Application Deadline

US citizens normally resident in the USA: 24 October*
Round 2: citizens of all countries other than the USA (except the United Kingdom) and US citizens normally resident outside the USA: 2 December*
*Applicants should submit their application no later than midnight (UK time). The Trust cannot guarantee that applications submitted after the deadlines will be considered.
