FIELD
MANAGER
SurfAid International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the alleviation
of human
suffering through community-based health programs. We perform our work in isolated
regions connected to us through surfing and are professional, highly energized,
innovative and youthful in our outlook. Our main program areas are Community
Based Health, Emergency Preparation, Environmental Health (Water and Sanitation)
and Malaria prevention.
We are now seeking an Indonesian national as
Field Manager, with an in-depth understanding of community issues to be based
on the
The Field Manager will report to the Progam Manager in Nias and 80% of the
incumbent’s work time will be spent in field locations.
The Field Manager’s tasks include:
·
Provision
of management and support to community facilitation training teams.
·
Planning
field training and workshops scheduled at the field level, and providing training
and mentoring for field staff.
·
Preparation
of monthly workplans and activity reporting matrixes and other regular field
reporting.
·
Assisting
with the training and capacity building of SurfAid program staff, primarily
SCFs and CFs.
·
Communication
with local stakeholders including district and sub-district government
authorities.
·
Conducting
regular monitoring and evaluation of field activities and visit field sites and
ensuring staff are conducting monitoring and filling in activity completion
reports.
·
Creating
and maintaining a data base of CHPB activities in the SurfAid target
implementation areas including playing a key role in local public health
forums.
Qualifications
Required:
The successful applicant will have:
·
Experience
in working with international NGOs
·
University
degree in Public Health, Social Sciences or Epidemiology
·
4 years + experience in field
management and program implementation
·
2
years + experience in community health based programs, hygiene and health
promotion
·
Experience in managing staff in
remote locations
·
Strong analytical and conceptual
skills
·
Experience with community-based media
and information campaigns
·
Experience in organising and
facilitating workshops
·
Skills in facilitating community
Focus Group Discussions and community meetings
·
Familiarity with monitoring and
evaluation tools and methodologies
·
Ability to communicate with a
wide range of stakeholders, including government officials, community members
and children
·
Excellent interpersonal and
communication skills and a commitment to working in a multidisciplinary and
multicultural environment
·
Excellent computing skills,
including word-processing and spreadsheet applications
·
Experience in administering
budgets
·
High personal standards,
political and religious sensitivity and possess the qualities of patience, tact
and diplomacy
·
Ability to work independently and
with limited supervision when necessary
·
Excellent report writing skills
·
Be
fluent in written and spoken English

successful applicant to have experience of working in isolated regions and/or
understanding of the socio-cultural background of
